"For decades, Ron Resch has been coming up with design solutions which are so innovative that most people don’t yet understand the questions. For example, his monumental Ukrainian Easter Egg sculpture demonstrates an elegant, modular egg-shaped form, while most people have never even wondered if there is an equation for an egg.
In the early 1960’s he invented amazing one-piece folded tessellations, and developed 3-D Computer-Aided Software to simulate them, long before the modern developments in mathematical origami.
In my Computers and Sculpture class at Stony Brook, I show Ron’s DVD to open my student’s minds to what is possible with simple materials if one has a sufficiently creative mindset.
Look through his website gallery, and then view the DVD, to get a sense of his wonderful geometric intuition, his visionary creativity, and the wide range of his physical constructions."
